TERMS OF THE COMPETITION


 

ELIGIBILITY

  • This event is open to all junior amateur golfers (boys and girls) that have a USGA/GHIN Handicap AND meet TCGA Membership Criteria, including residency requirements.
    • USGA/GHIN Handicap is available for free for all junior golfers residing in the TCGA counties through our TCGA eClub 
    • Age: Must be 18 or younger as of the scheduled event date.

 

FIELD SIZE AND WAIT LIST

  • The field size for Round 1 limited to the first 60 participants.
    • After the field limit is reached, players will be placed on a wait list in order by their time of registration.
  • There will be a cut after Round 1 to the following number of participants in each age group:
    • Age 10-12: Low 9 players and ties
    • Age 13-14: Low 9 players and ties
    • Age 15-18: Low 21 players and ties

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: 
    • Age 10-12: $35
    • Age 13-14, Age 15-18: $45
    • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (5PM EST on Thursday, July 30th, 2026). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $5 service fee, will be refunded if a player withdraws 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

 

FORMAT & DIVISIONS

  • Age 10-12: Two rounds of 9 holes of individual stroke play from the red tees (Ely Park) & gold tees (Binghamton CC)
  • Age 13-14: Two rounds of 18 holes of individual stroke play from the white tees (Ely Park) & blue tees (Binghamton CC)
  • Age 15-18: Two rounds of 18 holes of individual stroke play from the blue tees (Ely Park) & black tees (Binghamton CC)

 

PLAYER OF THE YEAR POINTS

Player of the Year Points will be for the 15-18 age group only, with the point breakdown for each regular season event detailed on our website. See the current POY leaderboard here. Note: The Junior Tour Championship awards double points.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The TCGA and/or the host course golf professional will be available to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

DOUBLE PAR RULE

For pace of play purposes, all participants will take a score no higher than double the par on a given hole. For example, if the hole is a par 4 the golfer cannot take a score higher than 8. If a golfer is on his/her 8th shot, he/she simply will pick up their ball and end their play of the hole. 

 

TIES

All ties will be broken by sudden death playoff. 

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Sunday, August 2 // Ely Park Golf Course // Tee times begin at approximately 9:00am.

Monday, August 3 // Binghamton Country Club // Tee times begin at approximately 8:30am.

 

TEE TIMES AND PAIRINGS

The pairings will be available on the event page and will be emailed to all players. The Round 2 pairings will be created and communicated following the completion of Round 1.

 

GHIN POSTING

Scores will automatically be posted to each participant's USGA/GHIN Handicap at approximately 11:00 PM following the completion of each tournament round. If scores are not posted within 2 days of the event, please manually post scores as desired as a technical error may have occurred.

  

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Lunch is included in the entry fee for the first round only.

 

TEE GIFT

A tee gift will be included in the entry fee for each participant.

 

GOLF CARTS & CADDIES

  • Competitors must walk or use a pushcart. Spectator carts are on an as available basis and must be purchased directly from the pro shop. 
  • Caddies are NOT permitted for Junior Events.
  • For 13-14 & 15-18 age groups, no golf advice from any parent or spectator is permitted.
  • For 10-12 age group, parents are encouraged to coach and help any players in groups as much as needed for pace of play reasons and to promote a learning experience, but golfers are still responsible to carry their own clubs or use a pushcart.
    • Examples of appropriate coaching for the 10-12 age group include: searching for golf balls, helping participants keep up with the next group, advising on proper golf etiquette, helping enforce the double par rule and counting strokes, helping participants understand distance, general course knowledge, the Rules of Golf, etc.

 

TROPHIES, AWARDS, AND EXEMPTIONS

  • The champions of each division will receive a trophy
  • The champion of the 13-14 age group will receive an exemption into the 2027 NYS Boys' & Girls' 14U Junior Championship
  • The champion of the 15-18 age group will receive an exemption into the 2027 NYS Boys' & Girls' 18U Junior Championship
  • Provided field size requirements are met, the results of the 15-18 age group may be submitted for participants to receive the following:
    • Junior Golf Scoreboard points
    • Team New York points
    • AJGA Performance Based Entry stars
